TITLE: Quality & Packaging Technician
LOCATION: Carrollton, TX
Position Overview
The Quality & Packaging Technician will provide technical support to maintain the company’s high level of quality standards for its men’s personal care products. This position reports to the Packaging Development and Quality Assurance manager and interacts with several other departments, including purchasing, forecasting and operations.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform daily quality inspections on finished goods and packaging components using ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 sample standards of Acceptable Quality Limit
• Document all quality inspections by logging and maintaining all paperwork. This also includes taking pictures and logging retains.
• Perform packaging and quality assurance tests (weight, torque testing, measurements, leak testing)
• Maintaining the Jack Black Issues by Month log of quality issues found during inspection and in the warehouse.
• Create a monthly Contract Filler scorecard.
• Create a Powerpoint document outlining quality issues for each incoming inspection to share with contract fillers.
• Follow up with Contract Fillers and component suppliers on quality issues.
• Works closely with Accounts Payable giving appropriate information for all quality issues. Advising AP when issue is solved and invoice can be paid full or partial payment due to quality issue when an agreement of terms is finalized with Contract Manufacturer.
• Support the Quality, Packaging, and Purchasing departments.
• Maintain all of the product retains up to 48 months.
• Fill out approved Finished Good form and set up sample from each incoming shipment for testing.
• Maintain notebook with approved Finished Good Standards
• Maintain library of retains in an organized manner that is easily accessible to other personnel
• Develop relationship with vendors, write letters and coordinate shipments for approved component standards, color standards and CAD samples.
• Create and maintain library of samples of all primary and secondary packaging
• Keep re-work components stocked for warehouse.
• Maintain and organize Quality Issue retains
Requirements
• 1-3 years’ experience in a quality inspection role is desired, but training can be provided to the right candidate.
• Candidates must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products especially Excel.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows.
• Experience with standard AQL sampling and inspection procedures would be a plus.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage time, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong team player with the drive to help assure quality products.
• Some travel to local suppliers, so reliable transportation is required.
